SPECIMEN & SPECIES FESTIVAL 2017

The club's annual Specimen & Species Festival took place between 12th - 20th August, the nine day event is only open to club members and they are able to fish any where along the English coastline. This year eleven senior & three junior members took part fishing venues such as Portland, Chesil Beach & Plymouth Mountbatten pier. This year the golden fish was gilthead bream, there were two caught one of 26cm and Norman just pipped it by 1cm with one of 27cm.


The results for the competition are as follows:

Species: THE JOHN AND FRANCES HUNT TROPHY

1st Ollie Mears 29 species
2nd Craig Horton 28 species
3rd Eden Lynham 9 species

Specimen: THE DAVID CORNICK TROPHY

1st Ian Draper with a thick lipped mullet of 95%
2nd Norman Stokes with a dogfish of 87%
3rd June Stokes with a golden grey mullet of 73%

Most fish points went to Ollie Mears with 93pts.

Junior winner was Eden Lynham with 9 species.

Pairs winners were Ollie Mears and Craig Horton With 104pts.

Golden Fish Winner: Norman Stokes 27cm


It was nice to see how many people put the effort in over the nine days.
