RULES

Please note there is no entry fee.

 

Members earn points when participating in any WBSAC senior closed Shore Match (no open matches) the Species and Specimen Hunt Festival is excluded.

 

Minimum numbers fishing per match to be as per club rules 3 members.

 

To qualify for the opportunity of becoming the Species league champion, members must fish within the club year a minimum of 5 Shore Matches best 10 results will count, once achieved the aim is to keep bettering ones own lowest score, earning as many points as possible, (There will also be a Handicap League)

 

SPECIES LEAGUE points awarded in each match

 

1 point for fishing the match plus 1 point for each species caught e.g. 4 species caught 1 + 4 = 5 points

 

Plus best fish bonus points, the bonus points will be the value of the best fish caught by each competitor in each match. (Only the best fish per member counts maximum match bonus points 6)

1.      Mackerel, Scad, All Rockling, Whiting.

 

Unlisted mini species do not count.

 

Example (1) a member has caught 3 species and his best fish earns 2 match points the total match score is 1 + 3 + 2 = 6 species league points.

 

Example (2) a member has caught 2 species and his best fish earns 6 match points the total match score is

1 + 2 + 6 = 9 species league points.

 

Please note allocated fish points per fish will be as listed on the match card.

 

Should more than one member have the same total number of points at year-end, the tied member who has the  highest individual match score will determine ties for all awards, if still tied the second highest and so on. 

 

The junior champion will be the junior who earns the most points fishing senior shore matches providing that junior has qualified i.e. has fished 5 senior matches minimum, same applies to ladies.

Please note handicaps are issued in January of each year.

Angling Trust minimum sizes will apply to all fish caught and recorded.

A separate junior match Species League Championship will be run along side the senior league, with a 1st 2nd and 3rd certificate, plus a Junior League Match Points Champion certificate. For the juniors league the fish ten matches to qualify rule is dropped; minimum size does not apply as all undersized fish are weighed and returned.
